About the data
Each row is one day. bikes_hired is the number of Santander Cycles hires that day. The weather fields are daily London values (temperatures in °C, precipitation in mm, wind in km/h, visibility in km, pressure in hPa, solar radiation in W/m²).
Things to know before drawing conclusions:
- Daily hires fall sharply between 2022 and 2023. Check whether this is a change in behaviour or a change in how hires are counted before interpreting it.
- 10 and 11 Sep 2022 had zero hires because the scheme was shut for a system update. These two days are left out of every chart and calculation.
- 5 Aug 2025 shows only 188 hires and looks like a data outage. It is flagged as a suspected data error and excluded by default with the filter at the top.
- 2010 is a partial year: the data starts on 30 Jul 2010, soon after the scheme launched.
- Some weather values look implausible for London (for example the highest daily precipitation). Treat extreme values with care.
- Wind gust is missing for some days. Charts that use it drop those days, and the N shown reflects this.
